This morning I received a text from my expecting mother and her husband saying they were on their way to the hospital. She didn't seem stressed at all and told me she would let me know if the hospital admitted her or not. At this point I casually took a shower and packed my bag of goodies. I thought for sure they would text again and say they were being admitted... just take my time. This wasn't the case at all.
While loading the dishwasher my phone chimed again. When I checked the text it said I'm at 8cm. I literally took off running through the house. I scooped my dogs up and put them in their pen, the dishwasher was left wide open, I threw my hair in a knot, slapped on some mascara and I was out the door. I made it from downtown Tacoma to the Fort Lewis visitors center in exactly 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure I was speeding. :)
I don't have access to the Military base so I had to stop by the visitor center and obtain a pass. I went in with everything I thought I needed but I had some of the wrong information so I sprinted back to my car, quickly threw everything from the glove box in the floor, sorted through the papers to find the one I needed and darted back inside. I anxiously awaited for my pass to print and I was finally on my way. I had never been on base before so I had to get directions to the hospital. Thankfully, it was easy.
As I walked in they were preparing to break Kristin's water. 45 minutes later we all met Isabelle Grace Nadeau. Born at 11:57 am, 20 inches long, 8lbs 9 oz. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of such a special day for your family. Welcome to the world little one!
